Today there were at 47,695 active listings. I know that new listings are taken each day so the good news is that we're "appearing" to be leveling out. Everyday you hear the negative news on housing. Trust me, it's all good, but many of the agents have not worked in this market since they jumped aboard in the last two years. You will see many of them "jumping ship," because they're not prepared for this market. There are many part-timers also, but they love job security, so they're not really available to learn the market. Just hang in there, we're still doing well, just settling down.
Good news on the horizon for those who live in the east valley including Queen Creek, Gilbert, Chandler, Mesa, Gold Canyon and more. Good news too, for those of you living in the Chicago, Illinois area. We get lots of visitors here during the winter from that cold, cold area.
Per an article in the East Valley Tribune, Williams has confirmed that they will be scheduling flights to and from Gary airport in early December. The airline, SkyValue is aiming for a December 1 start up, but if it misses that date, it will be airborne no later than December 15 according to CEO Darrell Richardson. The regular flights will continue through April, and, if there is enough demand, it will expand to year-round service.
SkyValue is planning to launch service between Gary and four other sun destinations -- Orlando, Tampa, Fort Lauderdale and Las Vegas. Richardson selected Mesa because of the convenience of flying in and out of smaller airports closer to where the passengers live or want to stay.
He further states that SkyValue will be popular even for north Chicago passengers because the company is committed to keeping prices at the lowest possible price to the destination. "It's a trend-setting airline pricing structure proving popular in Europe," said Robert Brinton, executive director of the Mesa Convention and Visitors Bureau.
This appears to be a natural progression after Vision Airlines, Williams' first regular air service. The article goes on to state that the Mesa airport is already in talks with several other carriers, which have taken note of Williams' selling points: free parking near the termal, short TSA lines, uncongested air space. This all sounds good to me since I am in East Mesa just four miles from the airport. This is just a beginning.

Phoenix has long needed a relief airport, and it looks like Williams will be the one for the future.
