Why would you want to live waaaaaay out in Queen Creek? Lots of comments about how far "out" Queen Creek homes are from the "hub" of the east valley, but let me share with you just a "portion" of what's coming to a Queen Creek neighborhood! I have included links to the sources so my readers can get the inside "dope." It might be just a perfect time to buy a home in Queen Creek. If you wait too long, then prices will definitely be much higher. Remember I said that!!
Banner Medical Center (Ironwood & Combs
Rd) –
Planned construction to begin in 2007, one of Arizona’s largest hospitals is
planning to build a new 80 acre medical campus only 3 miles from Laredo Ranch!
Plans include a hospital, emergency room, medical offices and
more.

Queen Creek Marketplace (Ellsworth & Ocotillo
Rd) –
A Vestar development
with 1.2 million sq ft of retail development coming to down town Queen Creek,
only 5 miles West of Laredo Ranch. Anticipated completion date of the project’s
first of two phases is the 1st quarter of 2008. Developments will
include a Super Target, Lowes, BevMo!, Tilly's, Kohl's, Sport Chalet, Old Navy, Ross,
Circuit City, PetSmart, OfficeMax, Shoe Pavilion, Cost Plus World Market, Famous
Footwear, and many other ‘big-box’ retail stores, restaurants, and
movie theater!

Cornerstone at Queen Creek (Rittenhouse & Ocotillo
Rd) –
Westcor development; a 74 acre, mixed use project that includes a 68 acre
outdoor mall. Secured tenants include a Super Walmart, Danny’s car wash,
Walgreens, Wells Fargo . . . and many more to come!

Johnson Ranch Shopping/Dining
(Hunt Hwy & Bella Vista Rd.)
– Johnson Ranch, an
11,000 + unit master planned community is approx. 4 miles south of the town of
Queen Creek. This has become a
significant shopping corridor for the Pinal County area. At present, the Johnson
Ranch surrounding area includes a Fry’s grocery store, Walgreens,
Jack-in-the-box, Subway, Quiznos, Chen’s Chinese food, R&R pizza, Pizza Hut,
Wells Fargo Bank, Chase Bank, Bank of America, Misc. medical & dental
offices, Anytime Fitness gym, Fletcher’s auto, Checker Auto Parts, Blockbuster
video, Great Clips, UPS store, a dry cleaner, and a few other family owned
restaurants. This area keeps on expanding bringing more and more local
solutions to area residents!
Skyline Ranch Marketplace
(Hunt
Hwy
& Gary
Rd.) – A 64 acre Power Center approx. Anchored by a new Home Depot, this power center will be directly across
the street from the already existing Super Walmart, Wells Fargo bank, and Sonic
Burger drive-thru. Construction is expected to begin in the 2nd
quarter of 2007.
Shoppes at Pecan Ranch (Ironwood and Combs
Rd.) – . . . thus far, confirmed tenants include Fry’s Marketplace, Burger
King, Bank One, and Teakwood’s restaurant.
Ocotillo Trails Marketplace (Ironwood & Ocotillo
Rd.) – this future shopping center will bring
another 96,000 sq ft of retail and dining solutions to the area. Estimated
completion date of this shopping center is summer of 2007. Confirmed tenants
include a Karate dojo, flooring company, chiropractor, dentist office, nail
salon, dry cleaner, China Express, and R&R pizza. The two biggest pads in
the shopping center are still available so more information to come in the near
future as they land themselves a couple of major tenants.
Ironwood Rd expansion
project – Currently
under construction, Ironwood Rd is the main road that brings traffic in and out
of Pinal County as well as various parts of the town of Queen Creek. At
present, Ironwood
Rd is a 2 lane, N/S road. Pinal County officials have recently approved a
$66 million bond to speed up the expansion project that will make Ironwood Rd and 4
lane road that includes stop lights and side walks, plus curbs and gutters
(which will help prevent flooding after strong storms). Estimated project
completion date is the 1st quarter of
2008.

Pinal County Freeway – The long-term traffic solution for one of the
country’s fastest growing counties is a proposed freeway that will run from U.S.
60 southward to Florence and connect with highway 287. The
freeway will run approx. 8-10 miles east of the town of Queen Creek (approx. 2-4 miles east of Schneff Road) and
will have a branch that runs east/west to connect the Pinal County
freeway to the newly constructed 202 loop that runs through the city of
Gilbert.
